Max is a Wisconsin native who journeyed to the East Coast to earn his J.D. from the University of South Carolina. As an Associate Attorney with the firm, Max advises clients on corporate governance, entity formation, and professional practice transitions as well as drafts operating agreements and corporate resolutions, among other general counsel duties.
His practice areas include:
Prior to joining Buxton & Collie in March 2021, Max clerked for law firms in Columbia, where he researched complex litigation issues and honed the analytical and writing skills that he’d gained as a Research Editor for The South Carolina Journal of International Law & Business. Max also worked as a bipartisan staff assistant during hearings for Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett and a research assistant to the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, a role that afforded him a thorough understanding of complex federal antitrust and bankruptcy issues.
As a student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Max was an All-Conference swim team member. Outside of work, he still enjoys the water with frequent trips to the beach. Max and his fiancée, who live in Mt. Pleasant, spend their weekends exploring the Lowcountry and appreciating all that South Carolina has to offer, though this Badger State son will always root for his Brewers, Bucks, and Packers.
