James T. H. Buxton

A Charleston native, Jim returned to his beloved hometown after practicing at two firms ranked in American Lawyer’s top 50 list.

Jim leads the firm’s business law practice. He works regularly with corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships on shareholder buy-outs, private securities offerings, and business purchase and sale agreements, including business succession issues. His practice areas include:

He is a co-author of the 2018 SC Bar publication, South Carolina Business Law Handbook: A Practical Guide for Business Owners, Entrepreneurs and Their Counsel.

He and his wife, Courtney, live in Mount Pleasant with their two sons. In his spare time, Jim enjoys playing sports and being outdoors with his sons. He has a lot of fun on the varsity football chain gang, along with birding and amateur wine making.
