Michael W. Allen, Jr.

Michael is a partner with the firm. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael studied financial management, real estate, and accounting at Clemson University. A former real estate professional-turned-lawyer, Michael brings years of applicable experience to the Buxton & Collie catalog. As an attorney, Michael’s practice focuses on business and real estate matters and the disputes that can arise in those fields.

Prior to joining Buxton & Collie in May 2021, Michael spent five years at a state-wide law firm, successfully navigating business, construction, and real estate litigations throughout South Carolina. His interest in the legal underpinnings of the business and real estate industry began while he was working as an undergraduate for a commercial real estate investment company, where he assisted general counsel with document revisions and helped address lease inquiries. Upon graduating from Clemson, he worked as a commercial real estate leasing agent, negotiating deals and guiding commercial real estate lease transactions from start to finish. While working towards his J.D., Michael clerked for a number of Charleston-based law firms, building a strong foundation in civil litigation and disputes, business law, real estate practice, and construction law. In addition to admission in the South Carolina Bar, Michael is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for South Carolina.

In the Community:

Michael serves as the Legal Sector Representative on the Charleston County Community Development Advisory Board and helps coordinate the Charleston Lawyer Softball League. He is an affiliate of the Palmetto Society and also plays guitar as a member of the Church at Lifepark Worship Band. Michael and his wife, Monica, live in Mount Pleasant, where they spend their days exploring the outdoors and raising two tiny Tigers fans.
