Jim leads the firm’s business law practice. He works regularly with corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships, on shareholder buy-outs, private securities offerings, and business purchase and sale agreements, including business succession issues.
Brian lead’s the firm’s real estate practice, with an emphasis on the intersection of business law and real estate. He regularly represents clients on commercial real estate purchases and commercial leases reviews, and he advises businesses on everything from startup entity formation to ongoing corporate governance issues.
Nate’s corporate practice includes assisting corporations and business entities with formations, sales and purchase, shareholder buy-outs, private securities offerings, along with corporate governance issues.
Nate has a special interest in legal issues surrounding telemedicine. He regularly represents medical professions in practice transitions, including physicians, dentists and veterinarians.
Julie is an experienced business law attorney, focusing her practice on advising clients regarding corporate governance, and structuring, negotiating and closing various transactions. Her interest in tax law adds to the depth of her business legal experience, which includes drafting and negotiating various commercial contracts, advising clients on choice of entity and structuring issues, and closing commercial transactions.
Cecile leads the firm’s estate planning practice. Her experience includes supervising the administration of complex trusts and estates for high net worth clients, and developing comprehensive estate plans designed to maximize asset protection and preservation, and lesson the burden of tax consequences resulting from wealth transfer.
Courtney grew up in Southern Illinois and graduated from Furman University in 1999 with a B.A. in Political Science. She received her J.D. in 2002 from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Callie grew up in Columbia, where she graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in History and later earned a paralegal’s certificate. She has been a valuable member of the firm since 2015.
Christen graduated from Clayton State University with a degree in Creative Writing, and has a background in education. She joined Buxton & Collie in 2019 and has quickly become a valuable member of our team.
