Courtney grew up in Southern Illinois and graduated from Furman University in 1999 with a B.A. in Political Science. She received her J.D. in 2002 from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Courtney practiced in the area of medical malpractice defense for firms in Atlanta, Richmond, and Charleston before taking some time away from the law to be a stay-at-home mom. As Buxton & Collie’s Practice Administrator, she now enjoys working behind the scenes on firm administrative matters and client services.
Outside the office, Courtney and her husband, Jim, enjoy keeping up with their two teenage sons. Courtney volunteers with multiple organizations, including Porter Gaud School where she can often be found working in the concession stand and serving as the “team mom” for various sports, and First (Scots) Presbyterian Church where she serves as a Deacon and teaches 6th/7th grade Sunday School. Courtney is also a sustaining member of the Junior League of Charleston.
